10:15 A.M. Keynote Speaker: Dr. Beth Bauer,"You Can Do It! The Inclusion of Students with Disabilities in the Piano Studio"
Dr. Beth Bauer received her doctorate in music education from the Indiana University Jacobs School of Music. Her dissertation is titled "What is an appropriate approach to piano instruction for students with Down syndrome?" Dr. Bauer is the academic advisor and instructor for the pedagogy degree program at Wheaton College Conservatory, where she also teaches music to special learners. She also coordinates "Beethoven's Buddies," a music program for children with developmental delays at the Wheaton College Community School of the Arts. Dr. Bauer's work with special needs students has been featured in the Chicago Tribune, NBC Nightly News with Brian Williams, and the Daily Herald.
